Manila — Dispelling the veracity of rumors on who will be members of president-elect Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. (BBM)’s Cabinet, the incoming chief executive’s spokesperson disclosed that interviews and the vetting process are still ongoing for various positions in the new administration.
According to Atty. Vic Rodriguez, BBM and presumptive vice president ‘Inday’ Sara Duterte-Carpio is now discussing how to fill up the positions to be vacated when President Rodrigo Roa Duterte finally steps down, adding that the Marcos camp is “moving in the right direction” in completing the next administration’s Cabinet.
“I know people are excited kung sino pa iyong mga pangalang ilalabas pero tuloy-tuloy lang iyong interview process at vetting, searching para naman makabuo ng isang Gabinete na talaga namang magiging responsive sa mga problemang haharapin,” Rodriguez pointed out in an interview.
“The election was just concluded exactly a week ago. I think we’re moving in the right direction, with the appropriate speed,” he added.
As of this time, only two Cabinet members have been named—presidential daughter Sara Duterte-Carpio, who will assume office as education secretary, and former Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) chairman Benhur Abalos, who was appointed as interior and local government chief.
Duterte-Carpio was Marcos Jr.’s running mate in the 2022 national polls while Abalos served as the presumptive president’s campaign manager.
Rodriguez added that some individuals are volunteering to be part of the Cabinet.
