Hallasgo tinapos ang kampanya sa SEAG athletics dala ang marathon silver

Hanoi – Tinapos ni Christine Hallasgo ang kampanya ng Philippine athletics team sa 31st Southeast Asian Games dito sa My Dihn National Stadium na may nakasabit na silver medal sa marathon.

Nasa kontensiyon pa sa huling 600 metro, ngunit pinabagal si Hallasgo sa naramdamang cramps sa natitirang bahagi ng daan pero nagawang tiisin ang lahat upang angkinin ang runner-up finish sa event na kanyang pinamunuan noong 2019 edition sa Pilipinas.

Tinapos ni Hallasgo ang karera sa oras na 2:56.07 sa likuran ng nanalong si Odekta Naibaho Elvina (2:55.280). Si Vietnam’s Ngoc Hoa Hoang Thi ay pumangatlo sa tiyempong 2:57.350.

Ang silver ni Hallasgo ay pampito para sa Team PH dito sa hostilidad, na may limang golds at 14 bronze medals.

Nabigong pantayan o lampasan ng tropa ang kanilang 11 gold, 8 silver at 8 bronze medals sa 2019 SEAG na idinaos sa New Clark City Athletics Stadium sa Tarlac, ngunit kinokonsidera pa rin ni Philippine Athletics Track and Field Association head coach Joeffrey Chua na ang kampanya ng kanilang tracksters dito ay matagumpay.

“This version of the SEA Games is by far the most challenging because of the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic. But with 1 SEAG record, 5 new Philippine national records recorded, and 8 personal records established, this can be considered as a very successful campaign for PATAFA national athletes,” sambit ni Chua.

Ang koponan ay pinamunuan ni
Asia’s best pole vaulter Ernest John Obiena, ang gold-winning feat ang tumara ng bagong SEAG record na 5.46 meters.

Ang iba pang gold medalists ay sina William Morrison sa men’s shot put (18.14 meters), Clinton Bautista, na nagtala ng bagong national record sa 110m hurdles sa 13.78 segundo; Eric Cray, na nanalo ng ikalimang sunod na 400m hurdles na korona ng SEAG at Kayla Richardson, na nabawi ang 100-meter tiara (11.60 segundo) na kanyang napanalunan noong 2015 Singapore edition.

Ang mga silver medalist ay sina Kyla Richardson (200 meters, 23.56), Hokett delos Santos (pole vault, 5 meters), Janry Ubas (long jump, 7.73 meters), Aries Toledo (decathlon, 7499), Sarah Dequinan (Heptahlon), Harry Diones ( triple jump, 15.87m) at Hallasgo.

Naghakot ng bronze medals sina Kayla Richardson (200 meters, 23.87), Joida Gagnao (5000m and 3000m, steeplechase), Alfrence Braza (men’s 1500m, 3:56.35), Melvin Calano (javelin, 66.86m), Sonny Wagdos (1500m, 66.86m), Sonny Wagdos :39:89), Ubas (decathlon, 6977 pts), Bernalyn Bejoy, Jessel Lumapas, Edgardo Alejan, Jr. at Joyme Sequita (4×400 Mixed Relay), Jelly Paragile (100m Hurdles), Alyana Nicolas (pole vault), Robyn Brown (400m Hurdles ng kababaihan, 56.44 segundo), Morrison (discus throw), Evalyn Palbrica (javelin, 49.07 meters) at Bejoy, Brown, Eloise Medina at Maureen Schrijvers (4×400, Women’s Relay),
