A GREAT HONOR. This was how unopposed Cavite Representative Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla has described the offer of President-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. to head the Department of Justice.

The Cavite solon said although he did not even apply for the post, but he did not think twice when he said ‘yes’ to the first majority elected president in recent years.

“I accepted it. It’s an honor to serve the country in that capacity,” he said.

With this unexpected but pleasant development to Remulla, who was re-elected as representative of the province’s 7th district, he said a caretaker could be assigned or there could be a special election.

Remulla, however, said that he prefers to have a special election to ensure enough support for Marcos in the Lower House.

“He (President-elect BBM) has no other intention but to do the best job possible for the people. ‘Yan ang sinasabi namin talaga na (That’s what we are saying, that is a) very rare chance given by the people to serve so the opportunity is there to do it and do it the best way possible,” the incoming Justice secretary pointed out.
