MANILA — Declaring its complete support with other government agencies and local government units (LGUs) for the Department of Health (DoH)’s ‘Sabay SaVaxx Kontra Covid’ campaign, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) kicked off today the rollout of the second vaccine booster shots for healthcare workers and senior citizens.
MMDA chairman Atty. Romando Artes led the kick-off at the SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City with the Metro Manila local chief executives even as he urged those who are qualified to avail of the second booster shot to strengthen their immunity against infection by the severe acute respiratory syndrome-coronavirus 2 or SARS-CoV-2 that causes Covid-19.
Artes disclosed that ‘(the) second booster for our healthcare workers and senior citizens would provide added protection to the first and primary doses (and) will fortify (the) defense (capacity) of . . . health workers and seniors who belong to the (country’s) vulnerable sectors.
“To bolster the national government’s vaccination coverage, the MMDA mobile vaccination team (was) deployed in partnership with various LGUs and the private sector to bring the vaccines closer to the public,” the MMDA chief said.
“With our continued collaboration with various sectors, we are hopeful that we would reach the endemic stage of this virus. The virus is still around, but if we get inoculated, we will be able to protect not only ourselves but also our community, from all the existing COVID-19 variants,” Artes added in his message during the Resbakuna Ceremonial Vaccination for the 2nd booster dose of Covid-19 vaccine.
The ceremonial vaccination serves to highlight the administration’s steadfast response against the coronavirus pandemic by protecting every Filipino. Senior citizens and frontline health care workers participated to receive their second dose of the booster during the ceremony. (ai/mtvn)
