NCR, other areas in Visayas and Mindanao remain under Alert Level 1

MANILA — The National Capital Region (NCR) and several other areas in the country will remain under Alert Level 1 from June 1 to 15 even as the threat of the coronavirus pandemic continues due to the emergency of more highly transmissible mutations and variants of Covid-19.

This was announced on late Friday by deputy presidential spokesperson Kris Ablan who explained that the decision was arrived at after deliberations by health experts and embers of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-MEID) headed by health secretary Francisco Duque III.

Aside from the NCR, included in maintaining Alert Level 1 status under IATF Resolution No. 168-A are Abra, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province and Baguio City in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR); llocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan and Dagupan City in Region I; Aurora, Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Tarlac, Zambales, Angeles City and Olongapo City in Region III; Batangas, Cavite, Laguna, Rizal and Lucena City in Region IVa; Marinduque, Oriental Mindoro, Romblon, Puerto Princesa City, Looc and Occidental Mindoro in Region IVb; and Albay, Catanduanes, Naga City, Pamplona, Camarines Sur and Mandaon, Masbate in Region V.

In the Visayas, Alert Level 1 will also been maintained in Aklan, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo, Bacolod City and Iloilo City in Region VI; Siquijor, Cebu City, Lapu-Lapu City and Mandaue City in Region VII; and Biliran, Eastern Samar, Southern Leyte, Ormoc City, Tacloban City and Villaba, Leyte in Region VIII.

Also included in Mindanao are Zamboanga City, Bukidnon, Camiguin, Misamis Occidental, Misamis Oriental, Cagayan de Oro City, Iligan City, Davao City, Davao Oriental, Surigao del Sur and Butuan City.

Under Alert Level 1, intrazonal and interzonal travel are allowed while business establishments are authorized to operate at full capacity even as minimum public health protocols are still in place. (ai/mtvn)
