MANILA — Despite her father’s turning down an offer to lead the incoming Marcos administration’s campaign against illegal drugs, outgoing President Rodrigo Duterte’s daughter, Vice President-elect ‘Inday’ Sara Duterte-Carpio is determined to support policies and measures to eliminate the drug menace in the country.

The incoming VP’s message to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Trece Martires City, Cavite gave praises to all agencies of government that are involved in the ‘war on drugs’ and she vowed her commitment to the cause in order to ensure that the campaign against drug addiction and proliferation is successful.

The graduating Davao City mayor recently witnessed the destruction of more than P14.29 billion worth of illegal drugs in a warehouse of the Integrated Waste Management Incorporated, which was confiscated in a joint operation conducted by several law enforcement agencies.

“I am confident that this activity symbolizes the fulfillment of duty and transparency as well as to serve as another stepping stone that will place this agency to greater heights in the succeeding years,” Duterte-Carpio’s message was read and conveyed by PDEA director-general Wilkins Villanueva.
“Dapat isulong pa ang mga programa kontra ilegal na droga. Together, let us further promote a safer environment to everyone through our constant support to various programs and campaigns of our law enforcers against drug abuse,” the vice president-in-waiting added.

“As the country continues its anti-drug campaign, the city of Davao along with its citizens vow to accomplish and declare more drug-free communities to contribute to the effort of eradicating the use of illegal drugs nationwide,” she added in conclusion. (ai/mtvn)
