TANAUAN City — Team Tanauan City banked on steely nerves and hometown advantage en route to besting Lipa City, 2-0, in regulation in their Best-of-Three Series South Luzon Play-off in the Little League Baseball Philippine Series 2022 Major Division at the Tanauan Sports Academy diamond recently.
And with it, the gritty Tanauan City baseball team moved on to the national finals where only one major task remains for them to realize the dream of moving on to the AsPac Championship.
That major stumbling is no other than Muntinlupa City.
But having prevailed over Muntinlupa in the elimination round, the coaching staff of Team Tanauan said they have a good chance of moving on from here to the Asia Pacific Championship which is slated this year in South Korea.
Tanauan City also overcame the threat from the opposition in Ilocos Norte and Iloilo teams in regulation in the eliminations en route to emerging as the No. 1 team.
The top-ranking teams in the Asia Pacific championships will then accordingly move on to the much-awaited World Series scheduled late this year in the United States barring another Covid conflagration.
Team Tanauan is powered by 1. Jahniel Andrew Platon (Pitcher), 2. Joel Montealto (3rd base), 3. Daniel Manaig (Pitcher/Outfielder), 4. Jhustin Billionaire Marudo (Shortstop), 5. Jimmuel Maala (Pitcher), 6. Eidriel Balahadia (Pitcher), 7. Brixter Ross Castillo (Outfield), 8. Acquiles De Vera (Secondbase), 9. Radreid Atienza (1st base), 10. Ray Ferdinand Mercado (Catcher), 11. Charles Monterey (Second base), 12. Prince Luis Villanueva (Right fielder), 13. Neil Terrible (Outfielder), and 14. Jose Gabriel Yonzon (3rd base).
The coaching staff, meanwhile, is made up of Joel Lavado, Teddy Pol Landicho, and Alvin George Holt.
