MANILA — With the goal of making it easier for the Filipino people to access the Office of the Vice President (OVP) services, Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte opened OVP satellite offices in six regions around the country.
“Sa aking unang buong araw bilang bise presidente, nagbukas po tayo ng mga satellite office sa iba’t-ibang bahagi ng bansa upang matulungan ang ating mga kababayan na magkaroon ng madali at agarang access sa mga serbisyong mula sa Office of the Vice President (In our first whole day as vice president, we opened satellite offices in different parts of the nation to help our countrymen to have easier and faster access to the services of the Office of the Vice President),” Vice President Duterte said in her official Facebook page.
“Matatagpuan po ang mga satellite offices na ito sa mga lungsod ng Dagupan (Region 1), Cebu (Region VII), Tacloban (Region VIII), Zamboanga (Region IX), Davao (Region XI), at Tandag sa Surigao del Sur (Region XIII), Duterte said.
The move gained praises from netizens, mostly, Duterte supporters commenting on her official social media page.
“Naku! Hindi talaga tayo nagkamali sa pagpili sa kanya (Vice President Duterte). The more satellite offices mas mapadali at maaksyunan agad (ang pangangailangan ng mamamayan). Kudos VP Inday Sara! [Oh my! We really didn’t make the wrong choice. The more satellite offices, the easier to immediately act on peoples’ needs. Kudos VP Inday Sara!],” netizen Joshua John Flores Orongan said.
Some were amazed by the vice president’s quick actions.
“Ang bilis! Salamat sa mala-Davao City na aksiyon at serbisyo! [So fast! Thanks to a Davao City-like action and service!],” Genaro Ruiz Gojo Cruz commented.
While others committed to voluntary help the Department of Education (DepEd) in providing for the needs of students and teachers.
“Asahan po ninyo kagalang-galang at minamahal na Vice President Sara Duterte na boluntaryo akong tutulong upang makagawa ng mga paraan para sa ikabubuti ng ating magigiting na estudyante at mga masisipag na mga guro [You can count on me, honorable and beloved Vice President Sara Duterte, that I will voluntary help to make ways to improve the plight of our courageous students and diligent teachers],” Romeo Adoviso said.
Other commenters on Vice President Duterte’s page expressed hope that OVP satellite offices will also be established in their respective areas.
In her inaugural address last month, Vice President Duterte reiterated her call for unity with the hope that after the crises brought by the Covid-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war, the country will be able to rise again, if everybody will heed the call to serve the nation.
“If we all take a moment to listen to the call and decide to heed the call – in the same way that many are already devoting their lives as hardworking farmers and fisherfolk that ensure there is food on our tables, dedicated health workers who help the sick, brave soldiers who fight for our country, honest and fair entrepreneurs who support our economy, patient schoolteachers that guide our children – I believe the country will be heading toward a future of hope, security, strength, stability, and progress,” she said.
