MANILA — Stressing the importance of vaccination against the novel coronavirus disease (Covid-19), President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Tuesday revealed that the Department of Education is looking to start face-to-face classes in some schools in September before holding 100% in-person schooling by November.

The President made the announcement in a news briefing after the first Cabinet meeting under his administration.

“The first thing that is an example of that is Inday Sara’s announcement that we have a plan for full face-to-face by November of this year,” Marcos Jr. said.

The President appointed Vice President Sara Duterte as the DepEd Secretary who readily accepted her appointment even if she preferred earlier the defense portfolio post.

The President, however, clarified that vaccination against Covid-19 and other issues would be raised ahead of the planned face-to-face classes in all elementary and high schools.

“There are some things immediately accessible we can start doing something about it already,” the Chief Executive further said. (ai/mtvn)
