MANILA — The day after he castigated the corruption in three government agencies, Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla has appointed National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Deputy Director for Administration Medardo De Lemos as officer-in-charge (OIC) of the agency.

Remulla said in a Department Order dated July 1, 2022, that De Lemos’ appointment takes effect “immediately and shall remain in force until further orders.”

De Lemos was regional director of the NBI’s Central Visayas Regional Office when he received commendations for neutralizing the notorious Alvin Flores robbery gang in 2009.

On Monday, July 4, Remulla singled out the DOJ’s three attached agencies – the Land Registration Authority (LRA), the Bureau of Immigration (BI), and the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) – as graft-ridden and would be subject to “cleansing and reform.”

The new DOJ chief said the LRA, BI, and BuCor would be the first in line for transformation to rid them of any bad image arising from reports of corruption. (ai/mtvn)
