Irish Ambassador pays courtesy call to Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna

MANILA — The Embassy of Ireland to the Philippines Ambassador William John Carlos on Tuesday (12 July 2022) paid a courtesy visit to Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan here.

One of the key topics discussed by the Mayor and Ambassador is the diverse culture of the country.

“The sense of identity that I felt in the Philippines is strong; it is important we can connect with who we are,” Irish Ambassador Carlos explained.

He also revealed that more than 20,000 Filipinos are working in Ireland, many of which are in the housing sector.

“They have received recognition from the Irish President, and we will work hard to ensure that Filipinos are respected enough in Ireland,” he said.

Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan assured the ambassador that the Irish community is welcome in the city of Manila.

“We’re looking forward to building a more lasting relationship with your country,” Lacuna said.
