MANILA — Vice President Sara Z. Duterte believes that the Philippine economy is slowly catching up after it experienced setbacks due to the adverse effects of the COVID-19 pandemic over the past 2 years.

Duterte expressed this positivity in a post on her official social media account where she shared photos of her gracing the occasion of the inauguration of a new car company service center in Davao City recently.

“Dinaluhan natin kaninang umaga ang pagbubukas ng bagong servicing center ng Toyota Motor Philippines sa Davao City [This morning we attended the grand opening ceremony of a new service center of Toyota Motor Philippines in Davao City],” Duterte said in her post.

“Ito po ay nagpapatunay na unti-unti nang bumabalik ang sigla ng ating ekonomiya at nakakabawi mula sa epekto ng COVID 19 pandemic [This proves that our economy is slowly catching up from the effects of COVID 19 pandemic],” she added.

She congratulated Toyota Motors Philippines as she gave emphasis on the importance of the business sector in the country’s economic recovery. Businesses provide jobs and basic needs to the common citizens.

“With strong business sector support, we are confident that we can sustain our economy, provide our people with jobs and their basic needs, and pursue projects and programs necessary to build a strong nation,” Duterte pointed out.

She also highlighted the importance of supporting local businesses.

Duterte believes that the country will only survive if we continue to empower our local economy.

She said the government is looking for innovations on ways to respond to the public’s needs now that the country is gradually coping with the adverse effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The national government is aggressively pushing for measures that could keep our economy afloat with the dreaded effects of the pandemic and the challenges expected to hit our global economy,” she disclosed. (ai/mtvn)
