SAN FERNANDO City, La Union – The provincial government of La Union last night reported a total of 25 families and 78 individuals were left homeless after a fire razed their houses down.
Governor Raphaelle Veronica “Rafy” Ortega-David and the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU), through the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) launched an immediate response and rescue operation to mitigate and avoid the spread of fire to other areas.

The incident occurred at Barangay Paringao in Bauang town.

The fire swept all the houses in the area as fire trucks were not able to get through due to the narrow road leading to the area.

First responders including the Bureau of Fire, PDRRMO Emergency Response, Bauang Police, and the Municipal Government of Bauang provided immediate assistance such as temporary tent shelters and relief packs.

Victims of the fire were temporarily brought to Paringao Elementary School and to the Bauang MDRRMO Building.

There were no reported casualties during the incident.
