MANILA — Looking to push further his dreams to join the National Basketball Association in the United States, Filipino basketball stalwart Kai Sotto has signed with sports marketing and talent agency Wasserman Media Group which is known for handling some of the best athletes worldwide.
The Los Angeles-based Wasserman MG welcomed Sotto in an Instagram post, confirming his inclusion among the agency’s roster of accomplished and promising athletes.
“Maligayang pagdating sa #TeamWass, Kai Sotto!” it said in its post verbalized in the vernacular.
Fans enthused that Sotto’s decision to join Wasserman was definitely a sound career choice as the talent agency represents top-caliber NBA stars such as Russell Westbrook, Klay Thompson, Derrick Rose, Brook Lopez, and Alex Caruso.
Sotto was not picked in the recently concluded NBA 2022 Draft and ahead of it, he worked out with the celebrated NBA teams the Orlando Magic, Indiana Pacers, and Sacramento Kings.
The Pinoy basketballer expressed optimism that he would still suit up for a team in the world’s top basketball league in the future.
Meanwhile, Gilas Pilipinas coach Chot Reyes revealed that Sotto will not be playing in the Fédération Internationale de Basketball (FIBA) Asia Cup since the former Ateneo high-school standout had already left the Blue Eagles program in March 2019 and flew to the US hoping to sharpen his skills and prepare for a career in the NBA.
