MANILA — Mayor Honey Lacuna here held her first command conference with key officials of the Manila Police District (MPD) with a call for them to continue helping the city residents walk, work safely during the day and sleep soundly at night.
Lacuna also put her foot down when it comes to all forms of illegal activities, especially when it comes to illegal drugs, stressing how it destroys not only individuals but families as well.
The first lady mayor likewise stressed that she would not want to hear stories about her name being dropped for mulcting purposes.
“Baka lang naman kasi, may mga enterprising individuals na mangungulekta sa mga vendors tapos sasabihin “para kay mayor”. Walang ganun. It is something I will not tolerate,” Lacuna said during her meeting with the MPD officers held at the oval room right across her office.
The mayor said such name droppers and illicit activities will have to be dealt with accordingly, no matter who gets hurt, and stressed that vendors should be paying only what is due to the city government in terms of legal fees.
She also clarified that there is no such ‘zero vendor’ directive from her, adding that the vendors will continue to be allowed to vend in the areas designated for them.
However, Lacuna said that they are disallowed from going beyond the said vending areas so as not to create chaos in the streets which primarily belong to pedestrians and motorists.
Meanwhile, the mayor commended the men and women of the MPD for keeping the peace and order in the city of Manila and told them to keep up the good work. (KIara Lauren Ibanez/BC/ai/mtvn)
