ALABEL, Sarangani – A mother’s love and sacrifice to her children is immeasurable and knows no boundaries. As it was the inspiring story of Crestina Lee, the mother of Jaylen Lee, who carried her every day to school and never gave up until her daughter graduated from senior high school in 2018.

Her video carrying Jaylen went viral in 2018 and many were touched by their story because no matter the difficulty she faced, she never gave up on her daughter’s dream of completing her studies.

Now, Jaylen not only received her high school diploma as she graduated this year with a Bachelor of Science in Office Administration degree from Primasia Foundation College.

Jaylen has been an inspiration to his friends and classmates because of her solid determination to finish her college degree.

“Jaylen really inspires everyone. Siya yong tinitingnan na, “Uy! kaya ngang gawin ni Jaylen how much more pa kaya tayo na able. Hindi siya makapaglakad ng maayos pero yung mga grades niya very competetive,” Reanne Pagaling stated, one of Jaylen’s teacher.

Jaylen attributed her success to her mother who carried her during her school years. She weighs about 44 kgs which is the almost the equivalent of one sack of rice. Their daily routine is crossing waist-deep rivers and over hills while riding “Mando” their horse to reach school.

Jaylen was granted a full scholarship to finish any college degree she wants with a monthly stipend by the Office of the Municipal Mayor of Alabel.

Crestina recalled that Jaylen was born normal, but was struck with polio when she was 8 years old. It has affected her hands and disabled her feet. Her father was also a polio victim and not able to handle long walks. (ai/mtvn)
