Environment Secretary Toni Yulo-Loyzaga
MANILA — Lawyer Ernesto Adobo welcomed newly-appointed environment Secretary Toni Yulo-Loyzaga in a simple turnover ceremony Thursday at DENR central office.
“Secretary Maria Antonia Yulo-Loyzaga comes to us with a wealth of experience combining science and governance,” Adobo said before high-ranking DENR officials and regional heads present to welcome Sec. Yulo-Loyzaga.
Adobo, the most senior undersecretary, said, “the DENR, as it struggles with its sometimes- conflicting roles in both conservation and development of natural resources, is fortunate that its new leader is not a stranger to the balancing acts necessary to achieve sustainable development.
Adobo expressed optimism that Sec. Yulo-Loyzaga can steer the DENR towards cooperation at the international and national levels across different sectors, taking advantage of shared interests with our neighbors in South East Asia and the rest of the world.
In closing, Adobo said, is hopeful that with Secretary Yulo-Loyzaga the new chapter of the DENR’s story will inspire the Filipino people to hear and act on the challenges that our country’s environment and rich biodiversity face towards transformative change that we so urgently need. (ai/mtvn)
