MANILA — Vice President Sara Z. Duterte visited Bohol province on Friday to check out the situation in schools destroyed by Typhoon Odette last year.

Duterte reported this on her social media account. She also expressed her gratitude towards the teachers and employees of a fisheries school.

“Bumisita po tayo ngayong araw (July 22) sa Bohol upang personal na makita ang mga paaralan na sinalanta ng Bagyong Odette noong nakaraang taon [We personally visited Bohol today to personally check the status of schools destroyed by Typhoon Odette last year],” the vice president said.

“Maraming salamat sa mga guro at empleyado ng Clarin National School of Fisheries sa oras na inilaan niyo para makausap kayo tungkol sa mga pangangailangan ng bawat paaralan at mga guro [Thank you to all the teachers and employees of Clarin National School of Fisheries for the time you spent with me so I can talk to you about the needs of every school and the teachers],” she added.

The other day, Duterte roamed around the Department of Education (DepEd) Central Office as a “getting-to-know” approach to the agency’s personnel.

“Inikot po natin ang DepEd Central Office ngayong hapon (Wednesday, July 20) at nakilala po natin ang mga mahuhusay at masisipag na mga kawani ng ating tanggapan [We made rounds at DepEd Central Office this afternoon and we met the competitive and diligent employees of the Department],” Duterte said on her post in her Facebook account.

The concurrent Vice President and Education Secretary expressed her gratitude to DepEd employees for their dedication and sincerity in providing quality education to the youth.

She also met Batangas 6th District Representative Ralph Recto to discuss how to improve the education system in the Philippines.

She thanked and lauded the lawmaker for his initiative and concern for the Filipino students.(ai/mtvn)
