CTG member killed in Bulacan encounter with 70th IB

MANILA — A member of Kilusang Larangang Gerilya-NARCISO of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) was slain following a fierce encounter with troopers from the 70th Infantry (Matapat at Matatag) Battalion on Saturday (23 July 2022) in Barangay Kaybanban, City of San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan.

Together with the 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company of Bulacan and Bulacan Provincial Police Office and one platoon of Alpha Company, 70IB led by 2nd Lieutenant Anmer H Manuel Jr., the government forces engaged the CTG’s for about 10 minutes resulting in the death of one CTG member.

Authorities identified the fatality as Jovel Agudez alias “Ka Loward.”

The troopers also seized one (1) M16 rifle, ammunition, and one (1) backpack with personal belongings and other essentials (featured image above).

“While we condole with the family of the slain CTG member for their loss, we also call other members of the Communists NPA Terrorists to surrender to the government so that they can go home to their families than suffer the same fate as their dead comrades.” Ltc Ronnel B Dela Cruz, commanding officer of 70IB, said.

The Commander of the 7th Infantry (KAUGNAY) Division Major General Andrew D Costelo said that the death of the CTG member was “an outcome of the cooperation of the community to end the local armed conflict.”

“We will continue our intensive conduct of focused military operations to eliminate all the CTG threats in our Area of Responsibility. The death of the communist member is the result of our troops’ intelligence-driven operations coupled with the support of the peace-loving community,” said MGen Costelo. (ai/mtvn)
