MANILA — Apparently excited by the incoming face-to-face classes, the Department of Education (DepEd) concurrently headed by Vice President Sara Z. Duterte on Saturday said almost 9.2 million students have already enrolled for the school year 2022-2023.
It was learned that classes will begin this coming Aug. 22 while face-to-face classes are targeted to begin on November 2 this year.
As of Friday, July 29, a total of 9,192,331 have already been enrolled for only five days.
The registration started last July 25, Monday, according to the data by DepEd’s Learning Information System (LIS).
It said of the number of enrollees, 4.28 million are elementary pupils, 2.97 million are junior high students, 1.34 million are senior high school students and 608,114 are kindergarten pupils.
The DepEd also urged students under the Alternative Learning System (ALS), which was taken by former Senator Manny Pacquiao, to enroll via in-person or remote enrollment. (ai/mtvn)
