LAPU-LAPU CITY, Cebu — Apparently trying to impress the new leadership of the Bureau of Customs, the BOC Port of Cebu collected total revenue of P4.376 billion for July, exceeding the target for the month by P1.067 billion.
In its statement, the BOC Port of Cebu on Monday, August 1, said this performance sets the Port’s highest collection record anew, topping June’s collection of P3.968 billion, and posting a P1.251 billion or 40% year-on-year growth.
“This is the first time that the Port breached P4 Billion in its collection history. This energizes all of us to continue our strategies for maximizing collection, especially through correct valuation and classification, and strict review of importation documents to avert trade mis-invoicing,” District Collector Charlito Martin R. Mendoza said.
The BOC Port of Cebu has consistently surpassed its monthly targets since January, posting a total of P24.568 billion in accumulated revenues.
On the other hand, the Sub-port of Mactan under Collector Gerry Campo and Sub-port of Dumaguete under COOIII Gina Fatima Lasola also exceeded their collection target for the month which significantly contributed to the aggregate revenue of the BOC Port of Cebu.
Mendoza acknowledged the consistent performance of the hard work and dedication of Port of Cebu’s officers and personnel.
He also expressed appreciation of the stakeholders’ active participation and cooperation in port-initiated education campaigns aimed at keeping importers and brokers abreast of customs procedures and supporting compliance with customs regulations. (ai/mtvn)
