MANILA — Upcoming at the Newport World Resorts (Resorts World Manila), the biggest Call of Duty: Mobile (CODM) tournament in Singapore, Malaysia, and the Philippines (SMP) is scheduled to go head-to-head on stage to battle for top honors in front of a live audience in Parañaque City.
Qualified teams from the three countries commence their battle royal starting on August 12 up to the 14th from 1:00 in the afternoon until 10:00 in the evening.
Garena CODM will also organize giveaways, distribute rewards and give a chance to players and fans alike to meet their fellow players in the #CODMMUNITY as the event is rendered for free to the audience attending.
This is the first offline tournament of Garena CODM in 2 years with the last having been held ironically in the Philippines and it is now back in a familiar place but is said to be bigger and better this time.
It was in March two years ago when the first and last offline tournament was organized in CODM and it was before the Covid-19 pandemic. Four teams initially joined and competed in the tournament; namely NRX Jeremiah, VVV Flamma, XD Gaming, and BREN Esports. NRX Jeremiah nailed the championship and won the PhPP200,000 top prize.
But in this month’s tourney, a total of eight teams are playing and Singaporean and Malaysian teams alongside the Filipino squads will have a chance to fight for the US$25,000 (about PhP1.4 million) prize pool. Aside from the cash, winners will also automatically qualify for Stage 4 of the CODM World Championship to fight for Southeast Asia and Garena’s CODM regional championship.
The Philippine CODM teams are expected to figure prominently as they are ranked favorites in the tourney. Garena Masters 1 champion Blacklist International Ultimate and Garena Masters 2 champion Smart Omega are both in contention while Smart Omega will also technically defend their offline local area network (LAN) title as their core members (Jayzee, iDra, Woopiiee) were also the NRX Jeremiah who won way back in 2020.
