₱1000 SOCIAL PENSION BILL FOR INDIGENT SENIOR CITIZEN LAPSES INTO LAW

MANILA – The bill seeking to increase the social pension of indigent senior citizens sponsored by Senator Joel Villanueva has lapsed into law last July 30, 2022.

The Office of the President has transmitted a letter to the senate dated August 1 stating that Republic Act No. 11916, “an act increasing the social pension of indigent senior citizens…” lapsed into law on July 30, 2022.

Villanueva in a statement said that the news is the best gift he received on his birthday today. “Happy birthday indeed! Batas na po ang ating doubling the social pension of indigent senior citizens, praise God! Thank you! Thank you!” he stated.

Recipients of the ₱1000 monthly pension allowance will receive their payout from cash distribution for their convenience.

According to the law, transaction fees will not be shouldered by the beneficiaries.

Villanueva said that the increase, although not much, will help for their daily necessities and medical needs. (ai/mtvn)
