PDEA scores humongous drug haul worth P2.72-B in Pangasinan, La Union buy-bust

SAN FERNANDO City La Union — The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) scored what could be its biggest drug bust yet this year, involving 400 kilograms of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu worth P2.72 billion.

The humongous drug haul unraveled during a buy-bust operation last Friday, August 12, 2022, in Pangasinan and La Union.
PDEA Director General Wilkins M. Villanueva congratulated the multi-agency team composed of the PDEA Intelligence Service, PDEA RO 1, PDEA NCR, AFP Task Force NOAH, AFP Team Navy, Bureau of Customs, and the Philippine National Police for the successful operations.

The two separate operations were conducted in Turquoise St. Sunshine Village, Pozorrubio, Pangasinan at 11:30 AM and arrested KE WUJIA alias JAMES DAGALE GALOPO, a 49-year-old Chinese National from San Vicente Sur, Agoo, La Union, together with 3 Filipinos: 22-year-old JOHNBERT YAGONG of San Agustin Norte, Agoo, La Union; 29-year-old JENSON REY YAGO of Brgy. Codcod, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental; and 28-year-old RITCHELL REPUESTO who is also from San Carlos City, Negros Occidental.

At least 360 kilograms of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu worth P2.448 billion were seized from the Chinese National and his Filipino cohorts, along with cellular phones, the buy-bust money, assorted identification cards, and various financial documents.
The other one was conducted in Ilang ilang St. Brgy. Poro, San Fernando, La Union at 12:45 PM which resulted in the arrest of 38-year-old ROMEL LEYESE of Bagong Silangan, Quezon City, and 18-year-old JOHN PAUL T. REPUESTO of San Carlos, Negros Occidental.

Another 40 kilograms of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu with an estimated value of P272 million was also seized from LEYESE and REPUESTO, along with cellular phones, various identification cards, and financial documents.
Cases for Violation of Sec 5 and 11, Art. II of RA 9165 will be filed against the arrested suspects. (ai/mtvn)
