MANILA — In an effort to maintain and enhance the relationship between the Philippines and the United States, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. met with a select US congressional delegation on Thursday, 18 August 2022.

Senator Edward Markey headed the group of US congressional representatives that paid a visit to Marcos in Malacañang.

“We look forward to continuing our partnership with the US in the areas of renewable energy use, agricultural development, economic reform, and mitigation of drug problems,” Marcos Jr. said in a Facebook post.

The group also expected to pay former senator Leila de Lima a visit as she was being held at Camp Crame, Quezon City’s PNP Custodial Center. (ai/mtvn)
