LAPU-LAPU CITY, Cebu — Living up to its local party name “Team Libre,” Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan on Friday sent medical and dental, legal, social welfare, veterinary officers, livelihood trainers, and beauty experts to Barangay Looc to serve residents for free.
Dubbed “Libreng Serbisyo Para sa Tanan”, doctors and dentists provided free medical and dental consultation and treatment. They also gave away free toothbrushes and toothpaste.
There was even an added bonus: free ice cream for those who availed of free tooth extraction to ease the pain.
“Libreng Serbisyo Para sa Tanan” also provided free X-rays for those who need a check-up.
For those who need legal advice, a team of lawyers also offered legal direction to those who need one.
A team from the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) served solo parents, senior citizens, and persons with special needs for free registration.
And if they require an identification card, they also have “Libreng Rush ID pictures”.
For ladies who wish to look beautiful, there was also a team of beauty experts who gave free haircuts and free make-up.
“Libreng Serbisyo” also provided free livelihood training and gave away seedlings for those who wish to beautify their homes and put additional food on the table.
No one also got hungry with “libreng lugar” (free porridge and coffee).
Even dogs were given a free treat. They were given free vitamins and a free anti-rabies vaccine.
The Philippine Statistics Authority also helped the residents to avail a national identification (ID) system registration.
City Hall sources said Chan will also give “Libreng Serbisyo” to the remaining 29 barangays in this historic resort city. (ai/mtvn)
