MANILA — Senator Robin Padilla on Friday urged the Department of Education to be on the lookout and ensure the protection of indigenous students from deceptive recruitment of groups as face-to-face classes resume.

In order to prevent indigenous students from forgetting their roots, he also emphasized the importance of teaching Philippine history to them.

In his capacity as the chairman of the Senate Committee on Cultural Communities and Muslim Affairs, Padilla added that he is prepared to enhance the budget for this purpose if necessary.

“Pakibigay agad at kung anong gusto nyo sa legislation na may kinalaman sa indigenous people (IP),” Padilla said. (ai/mtvn)
