MANILA — After nine days of operation, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Camarines Sur Provincial Field Unit took the lead along with several other police operatives in a successful Luzon-wide manhunt that resulted in the arrest of the suspect in the brutal killing of a 15-year-old rape victim in Bulacan province.
The San Jose Del Monte Bulacan Central Police Station, Bustos MPS, PIU Bulacan, 501st MC RMFB5, RIU5-PIT2 Camarines Sur, NAVforSOL, PIU CamSur-PPO, CAMSUR PHPT, and Pamplona MPS all participated in cornering 43-year-old GASPAR MADREDANO MANEJA Jr. a.k.a., “Jose Francisco Santos,” at around noon Thursday (August 18, 2022) in Pamplona, Camarines Sur.
The arrested person was nabbed by virtue of Warrants of Arrest (WOAs) for the crime of Rape (RPC Art. 266-A) and two (2) counts of violation of RA 7610 (Anti-Child Abuse Law), all issued by Hon. Ma. Cristina Geronimo Juanson, the Presiding Judge of Third Judicial Region Branch 5, San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan on April 12, 2021.
Maneja is the prime suspect in the case of Princess (not her real name), a 15-year-old rape victim found dead in Bustos, Bulacan on August 12, 2022, with cigarette burns on her body.
He is currently under the temporary custody of CIDG Camarines Sur.
Authorities said the victim will be slapped with criminal complaints of Rape with Homicide, Using a Fictitious Name and Concealing True Name that will be filed before the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor in Malolos City, Bulacan on August 17, 2022, with docket NPS No III-04-INV-22H-04136 to 04137.
“Hitting two birds with one stone!,” says PBGen Ronald O Lee, CIDG Director. The arrest of Maneja is a winning slate for the CIDG in its effective campaign against wanted criminals and for the PRO3 for the immediate resolution of the rape-slay case in Bulacan. With this united effort from the police, justice was once again served. (ai/mtvn)
