MANILA — Mayor Honey Lacuna of this city inspected and assessed the assets of the Manila Police District that were put on display during the launching of the National Capital Region Police Office’s OPLAN S.A.F.E. at the Quirino Grandstand on Monday, August 29.
S.A.F.E. stands for Seen, Appreciated, Felt, Extraordinary activities of police officers of Manila and elsewhere.
The new PNP program intends to give assurance to citizens of the Republic not only in Manila but anywhere else in the Philippine archipelago.
MPD showcased its resources made up of 226 motor vehicles, guns and ammo, and other assets to the media and to the city mayor.
Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan was assisted by MPD Director PBGen. Andre Dizon during the inspection of police assets available for use.
In her speech, Lacuna-Pangan reminded the police of their duty to ensure public safety and the effective maintenance of peace and order within their areas of jurisdiction.
“Inaasahan ko ang mataas na pagrespeto natin sa ating mga mandato, ang pagkakaroon natin ng maayos at malinaw na ugnayan sa pagkilos ay makapagbibigay ng malaking adbantahe sa paghahatid natin ng epektibong serbisyo sa halos dalawang milyong Manilenyo,” the local chief executive said.
The lady mayor also assured the MPD of the city’s support with regard to their much-needed resources and assets such as additional police mobiles and motorbikes.
“Ang Pamahalaang Lungsod ng Maynila ay hindi natutulog. Lagi po kaming aalalay sa inyo at hanggang sa aming makakayanan ay ibibigay po namin ang lahat ng inyong pangangailangan,” the mayor said.
MPD, which is comprised of 4,043 uniformed and 171 non-uniformed personnel, was also tasked by the Mayor to provide additional security during the night time especially near schools and universities.
