QUEZON CITY — A policeman from Eastern Police District and three of his cohorts were arrested for allegedly stealing a cable wire recently in this city.
Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Director, Police Brigadier General Nicolas D Torre III, announced the arrest by operatives of Anonas Police Station (PS 9) under the leadership of PLTCOL Ritchie Claravall who identified the suspect policeman as Francis Baquiran, 27 years old, presently assigned at Eastern Police District, and a resident of Brgy. Bagbag, Novaliches, Quezon City.
His three cohorts were identified as Ivan Fritz Valtiedaz, 26 years old, Criminology Graduate, and a resident of Brgy. Talipapa, Quezon City; Richard Repal, 32 years old; and Needrick Suing, 25 years old, both residents of Brgy. Tandang Sora, Quezon City.
Report shows that while PS 9 operatives were conducting One Time Big Time (OTBT) at about 1:50 AM of August 30, 2022 along C.P. Garcia beside Baluyot Court, Brgy. Krus na Ligas, Quezon City when they intercepted the suspects while stealing a PLDT copper cable which prompted the police officers to coordinate with PLDT representatives to identify them but the latter told them that the above suspects are not PLDT employees that prompted the QCPD operatives to arrest the suspects.
Confiscated from the suspects were 115 PLDT copper cables valued at P471,940.00; one unit of Taurus Banbridge GA G3c 9×19 Caliber .9MM with serial No. ACA47683 with magazine loaded with seven live ammunition; two Canik magazine caliber .9mm loaded with nine ammunition; and Foton Wing Van with plate number NCX 3882.
The suspects will be charged with Theft and additional charge for violation of R.A. 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act for suspects Baquiran and Valtiedaz.
PBGen Torre III lauded the operatives of PS 9 for their immediate action that led to the arrest of the suspects and the confiscation of the evidence.
“Maging babala po sana ito hindi lamang sa kapulisan ng QCPD kundi sa lahat dahil patuloy parin na ipinatutupad ang intensified internal cleansing campaign ng PNP (May this serve as a warning not only to the police force of QCPD but to all that we continuously implementing the intensified internal cleansing campaign of PNP),” he added.
PBGen Jonnel C Estomo of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) commended the QCPD for their efforts and relentless campaign against all forms of criminality.
“Team NCRPO is devoted to doing their duties and responsibilities and there is no room for erring cops,” he added. (ai/mtvn)
