PNP scores huge drug busts in 3 areas worth P16-M; apprehends 6 suspects

MANILA — Over P16-million worth of shabu and Marijuana were seized in separate anti-illegal drug operations in three areas in the country in the past few days the Philippine National Police said.

The largest haul was recorded in Tabuk City Kalinga on Friday when 31-year old Jerry Salang-oy Alunday was intercepted in a police checkpoint by personnel from Tabuk City Police Station, 1st and 2nd Kalinga PFMC, PECU, PIU/PDEU/RID PROCOR and RDEU while attempting to transport a huge stash of Marijuana worth P15.6-million on board a white commuter van.

The contraband was packed into 126 bricks and four tubular packaging weighing a total of 130,000 grams.

“The suspect may have been involved in large-scale trafficking of Marijuana as evidenced by the huge quantity confiscated from him. The vigilance of our personnel was instrumental in supressing the possible consumption of illegal drugs that could possibly happen in case these Marijuana were successfully delivered,” PNP Chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin said.

Meantime, police authorities posted another successful operation with the arrest of another high-value individual for illegal drugs, along with other drug suspects.

Jezrel Villaros Adalwan was arrested by operatives of Talomo Police Station 3 of the Davao City Police Office and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency of Region 11.

The operation which took place last September 2 also resulted to the arrest of other suspects, namely, Antonio Mangin, Daniel Bustamante, Alan Leal and Leo Alquizar. All of whom are considered as high-value individuals for illegal drugs.

Seized from them are illegal drugs weighing approximately 13 grams valued at P88,400.00.

Meanwhile a drug den was raided by police in Sta. Maria, Bulacan on Saturday.

Elements of PNP-DEG SOU3, together with PDEA 3, RDEU 3, PRO3, Bulacan Police Provincial Office, Sta. Maria Municipal Police Station, and PMFC Bulacan 2nd company jointly conducted the operation that led to the arrest of five drug suspects.

They were identified as: Jumar Nicariel Uligan; Grace Sta. Cruz; Nicole Figueroa; Arnold Viola; and Patrick Sta. Cruz.

Confiscated from the suspects were 100 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated value of P680,000.00.

“These and all other police operations have been recorded around the country. Filing of cases are also underway to make sure those involved in this illegal business will face the consequences of their actions,” Azurin said.

“We also strengthen our coordination with the church and community through our KASIMBAYANAN program to better mobilize the general public in promoting peace,” he added. (ai/mtvn)
