MANILA — At least three suspected Communist New People’s Army Terrorists (CNTs) died in an armed encounter with law enforcers in Davao Oriental on Tuesday, September 13, 2022.
Reports reaching the PNP headquarters revealed that one platoon of SP/48th IB personnel were conducting a hot pursuit operation when they encountered of more or less five CNTs believed to be members of WGF18, SRC2, and SMRC.
The firefight lasted for about 10 minutes then the enemies withdrew in different directions.
Recovered at the scene was the cadaver of a certain Bert Era alyas Tatay Bert/Mayo (64).
Other pieces of evidence seized were: one M16 rifle bearing SN: 2189203; a cal .45 Colt M1991A1 pistol; backpack containing personal belongings; one magazine assembly for M16 rifle with five (5) rounds of ammo; and several empty shells of M16 rifle.
Meanwhile, at around 10 p.m., another encounter ensued between the rebels and a platoon from 48th IB and S2 personnel of 28th IB (DS to 701Brigade) that resulted in the death of two CNTs identified as Eduardo Jamonir and Roland Ungan Sr.
Firearms and ammunition were also recovered from them.
“Police authorities are in search of the remaining CNTs who escaped from the incident. We ask the community to exercise vigilance. Tulong-tulong tayo. Your cooperation will greatly contribute to tracking these criminal elements,” PNP Chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr. said. (ai/mtvn)
