LAPU-LAPU CITY, Cebu — For holding a Bisrock (Bisaya rock) concert to benefit three schools in Olango island that were heavily damaged by supertyphoon Odette, the socialist-humanist Maharlika Solidarity (MASO) has lauded the 51st Force Group Reserve which is a part of the 5th Air Reserve Center of the Philippine Air Force (PAF).

Dubbed “Lupad Sugbo: Concert for a Cause,” it will feature popular Bisrock artists like Noel Palomo of Siakol Band, Iping Amores and Crewcocs, Dance With Me Kris, Selectah, Agadiers, and Brownskim Riddim, and many more on October 1, Sunday, at the Valle Verde, Sta. Lucia Grounds in Barangay Pusok.

Lupad in Cebuano means fly, and Sugbo is the Cebuano word for Cebu.

Founded by a descendant of Lapu-Lapu, MASO called on all Oponganons to attend the concert for the benefit of the three public schools on Olango island.

Members of the 51st Force Group Reserve also extended their gratitude to the local government of this historic resort city for support of the concert.

They said the concert’s proceeds will benefit three schools in Olanggo island — Tingo Elementary School, Baring Elementary School, and Pangan-an Elementary School — which were badly hit by supertyphoon Odette last year.

Funds raised from the concert will be used in the rehabilitation of the schools, especially now that face-to-face classes have already started, the reservist group further said.

A technical working group comprised of different agencies in the Lapu-Lapu government such as the City Police Office (PNP), Bureau of fire & Protection (BFP), City Traffic Management Services (CTMS), City Mayor’s Office, Office of the Congresswoman, Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) will collaborate with the organizers for a safe, peaceful, and successful concert.

The Lapu-Lapu City Public Information Office (PIO) said in its press release that aside from feasting on good music, various foods and drinks will also be available at the event venue for a more enjoyable experience.

Ticket prices are as follows: P300.00 for General Admission, which includes one cocktail drink and a raffle ticket; P500.00 for VIP, which has the same inclusions of one cocktail drink and a raffle ticker as well as grants access to a station near the stage; P2,000.00 for VIP, which also includes a complimentary one-yard cocktail drink, food, and a free shirt.

The 51st Force Group Reserve expressed hopes to raise as many funds as possible to help the schools on Olango Island. (ai/mtvn)
