MANILA — Now it can be told.
Former Chief Justice Lucas Bersamin was formally sworn into office as the new Executive Secretary to President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
Press Secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles announced this after Bersamin took his oath today, Tuesday, 27 September 2022.
“Former Chief Justice Lucas Bersamin has taken his oath of office as Executive Secretary, before President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr.,” Cruz-Angeles said.
“He began his duties immediately by attending the ninth cabinet meeting right after swearing in,” she added.
Bersamin replaced former executive secretary Vic Rodriguez after he resigned from his position amid the sugar importation imbroglio.
Born on October 18, 1949, Lucas Purugganan Bersamin is a Filipino lawyer and jurist who served on the Supreme Court of the Philippines for 10 years.
He first served as an associate justice from 2009 to 2018 and then as the 25th chief justice of the Philippines from 2018 until his retirement in 2019.
Meanwhile, Rodriguez will continue to be the President’s chief of staff, it was gathered. (ai/mtvn)
