100% SERVICE RESTORATION: GLOBE RESTORES SERVICES IN ALL KARDING-HIT AREAS IN FOUR DAYS

Globe has fully restored services in all parts of Luzon stricken by Super Typhoon Karding, becoming the fastest telco to complete critical restoration work in just four days since the weather system crossed the main island group, affecting homes, crops and infrastructure.

On Thursday, Globe reached 100% restoration of services in Nueva Ecija, a severely-hit province that sustained some of the worst damage due to the powerful storm. With services back up in all of Nueva Ecija, residents now have full access to call, text and data via Globe.

“We are happy to share that our services are now 100% available in Nueva Ecija, bringing our total typhoon-related restoration efforts to completion. This took the longest due to challenges on the ground, while we were able to restore our services on Tuesday in other typhoon-stricken areas,” said Globe Group Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer Yoly Crisanto.

“This was made possible by our vigilance and strong adherence to our BCP practices. We thank our personnel who braved the dangers in the aftermath of the storm so we can swiftly bring our services back up for the benefit of affected communities,” she added.

Globe had reached full restoration of all services in Northern Luzon provinces Bulacan, Pampanga, Pangasinan, Tarlac and Zambales, and in the Southern Luzon provinces of Rizal and Quezon, particularly the Polillo Group of Islands, less than 24 hours since Karding left the Philippine area of responsibility. Service was, meanwhile, immediately restored in Metro Manila.

This followed field operations that started even as the residual effects of Karding, which touched down as a Super Typhoon, were still being felt in areas where service outages were recorded. 

“We know how critical connectivity is to response and recovery during calamities. Through planning and preparation, Globe was able to quickly restore service in typhoon-hit areas despite logistical challenges,” Crisanto said.

Karding left the Philippine area of responsibility Monday night after a deadly crossing of Luzon, where it left a trail of devastation on homes, infrastructure and crops. As of Friday, the death toll due to Karding was placed at 12, with over 911,000 affected persons across seven regions.

Earlier in the week, Globe deployed Libreng Tawag, Libreng Charging and Libreng WiFi stations in typhoon-hit areas in the provinces of Aurora, Quezon, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, and Tarlac.

Globe continues to call on customers to send help to typhoon-stricken families through donating their Globe rewards points or converting unused data to rewards.

To donate, Globe users just need to go to the new GlobeOne app then take the following steps:

  • Tap “Redeem”
  • Choose the Donations tab
  • Select which partner where they would like to send help

Donations will be divided among partners ABS-CBN Foundation, Ayala Foundation, GMA Kapuso Foundation, Rise Against Hunger Philippines, and Tzu Chi Foundation, who will then send support to those in need.

GCash users may also donate through #GCashGivesBack.  Just go to Pay Bills, tap  “Others,” then  #GCashGivesBack. Proceeds will be sent to partner organizations ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya, Ayala Foundation, Caritas Manila, GMA Kapuso Foundation Inc., Philippine Red Cross, Save the Children, UNICEF, and World Vision.
