Army deploys assets for disaster response amid Karding’s wrath

CAMP CAPINPIN, Tanay, Rizal – The Philippine Army’s 2nd Infantry Division mobilized all its available assets for Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response to communities during and after Super Typhoon Karding pummeled many parts of Luzon last Sunday, September 25, 2022.

Troops from the 1st Infantry Battalion assisted in the forced evacuation of affected families of Barangay Dinahican in Infanta and Sitio Talahib, Barangay Banglos in General Nakar.

Troops were also deployed to assist the DPWH in clearing the road obstructions on the main supply route at Barangay Tamulaya, Barangay Bigyan, and Barangay Anawan all in Polilio, and the road obstruction at KM100 of Marilaque Highway in Barangay Magsaysay, Infanta, Quezon.

The troopers also helped in transporting relief goods from the Real Elementary School to Barangay Umiray in General Nakar and transported relief goods to Jomalig.

Meanwhile, the soldiers of the 59th Infantry Battalion also assisted in the forced evacuation of affected families in Mauban while the troops of the 80th Infantry Battalion assisted in the distribution of food packs to affected families across several barangays in San Mateo, Rizal.

“As servants of the people, our responsibilities do not end in just securing our communities from insurgents in Southern Tagalog. Rest assured that the Jungle Fighters are one with the Filipino people during these challenging times,” said 2ID Acting Commander Brig. Gen. Rommel K. Tello in a statement. (ai/mtvn)
