MANILA – Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna announced Tuesday that the New Manila Zoo will be opened this coming November 15, 2022, just in time for the coming Christmas season.
But this time, the refurbished zoological park will be collecting entrance fees although Mayor Lacuna assured that residents of the City of Manila including senior citizens and persons with disability (PWDs) will have huge discounts.
According to Parks and Recreations Bureau and Zoo Director Pio Morabe, the entrance fees for Manila residents will be ₱150 and ₱250 for non-residents.
Discounts for senior citizens and PWDs will be announced before the opening of the zoo.
Morabe said they also plan to provide a “one-day free pass” for the elderly like the free movie passes.
“For those planning to visit Manila Zoo, you can register and pay online to avoid queuing at the zoo counters.”
The Manila Zoo Park administration estimated about 10,000 visitors a day once the new park will be opened.
“New attractions and new animals will be included, renovated playgrounds and first-class glass enclosures will be placed in animal cages for the viewing pleasure and safety of visitors were also installed,” Morabe assured. (ai/mtvn)
