MANILA — A Chinese kidnap victim was rescued through an intensified operation of the Batangas City Police Station personnel, ending her 20-day ordeal in the hands of her abductors, Philippine National Police chief General Rodolfo S Azurin Jr said Friday.

Quoting the woman’s Chinese boyfriend, Azurin said in a statement given to PNP-AKG investigators that the 28-year-old victim (name withheld) was last seen on the night of September 16 at the Hammer Disco Light Club in Barangay Balibago, Angeles City with her friend (name withheld).

However, at 12:24 AM on September 17, 2022, they were both seen leaving the premises of the building and going to an unknown location.

On September 18, 2022, an unknown caller called up the victim’s boyfriend asking for money amounting to two (2) million US Dollars (P116,000,000.00 million pesos) and sent a video clip of the victim while being hit with a baseball bat in different parts of her body.

The Batangas City Police Station (BCPS), PRO4A was able to rescue the victim at a convenience store in Brgy. Alangilan, Batangas City.

In coordination with the PNP AKG, BCPS Operatives responded to the report and were able to pinpoint the exact location where the victim was held for 20 days by her kidnappers in Nueva Villa Subdivision Alangilan, Batangas City.

Some of the suspects have already been identified and are now the subject of a follow-up operation, the Chief PNP said.

The victim is now under the custody of the PNP AKG for proper investigation and documentation.

“With the strong dedication of our PNP Units, to put an end to these kidnapping incidents, the PNP guarantees the intensified monitoring and security of our community against kidnapping gangs. Kaligtasan Nyo, Sagot Ko. The PNP aspires to stop kidnapping in the country with the active support of the community,” Azurin said. (ai/mtvn)
