MANILA — Looks like there will be swift justice for the cowardly ambush-killing of broadcast journalist Percy Lapid after the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) released an image of the assailant.

At the same time, the DILG urged the suspect to surrender for gunning down the victim, whose real name was Percival Mabasa, who once ran for president of the National Press Club of the Philippines (NPC) but lost.

Percy Lapid of DWBL 1242 station was shot dead by two unidentified suspects along Aria St. Sta. Cecilia Village, Talon Dos in Las Piรฑas City on Monday.

Just like the saying “dead men tell no tales”, DILG Secretary Benjamin “Benhur” Abalos Jr. in a press conference on Friday warned the “person of interest” that hiding will do him more harm because those who masterminded the killing would possibly tend to get rid of him as well.

Abalos disclosed that the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG), Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), and National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) are investigating the killing. (ai/mtvn)
