MANILA — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. asked former Senator Leila De Lima if she wants to transfer to another detention center after she survived a hostage-taking attempt at the Philippine National Police (PNP) custodial facility in Camp Crame Quezon City.

“Following this morning’s incident at Camp Crame, I will be speaking to Senator De Lima to check on her condition and to ask if she wishes to be transferred to another detention center,” Marcos said.

The incident accordingly happened at around 6:30 in the morning on Sunday.

Meanwhile, police authorities assured the public that the wounded police officer and De Lima would receive necessary medical and psychological treatments.

It also said that the President has already ordered the PNP to enforce all measures necessary to ensure that no act of violence in the said facility and all other PNP detention centers shall not happen again.

Along with other prisoners Arnel Cabintoy and Idang Susukan, the deceased hostage-taker Feliciano Sulayao Jr. attempted to flee the PNP Custodial Center. (ai/mtvn)
