MANILA — Office of the Press Secretary officer-in-charge Undersecretary Cheloy Garafil said Tuesday that President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. will not interfere and will only allow the courts to decide regarding the home furlough of former senator Leila De Lima.

This is what Garafil said after being asked about her reaction to the chief executive’s elder sister in Senator Imee Marcos’s suggestion to extend De Lima’s home furlough.

She said that the President will let the court decide on De Lima’s drug case.

“Ang mga kaso po ni De Lima nasa korte na. So hayaan na lang po natin ang mga abogado niya,” Garafil said.

When asked about the call to release De Lima, she said: “As I said, we’ll leave it up to the courts to decide if she’s going to be freed based on the evidence or merits of her case.”

After the hostage incident, Marcos said that he would ask De Lima if she wanted to be transferred to another detention facility. (ai/mtvn)
