MANILA — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. said that there is no basis for Justice Secretary Boying Remulla to resign after his son was arrested for drugs.

Marcos said an official can only be dismissed if he is not doing his job and if he has “misbehaved.”

According to Marcos, Remulla did the right thing as the Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary.

“He has not done… he has done quite the contrary. He has taken the very proper position that he is recusing himself from any involvement in the case of his son,” the President said.

“I think that being the Secretary of the Department of Justice, he’s very aware that he must allow the processes of the judiciary to work properly and that no one in the executive (department) should interfere,” he added.

Remulla’s son, Juanito Jose Diaz Remulla III, was arrested this Tuesday for allegedly possessing P1.3 million worth of kush (high-grade marijuana).

Remulla also thanked the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) for doing its job.

“I have to abide by the Oath of Office I took when I assumed this position,” Remulla said. (ai/mtvn)
