MANILA — The government is closely monitoring and ready to provide immediate support to affected communities of severe tropical storm Neneng, particularly in the northern half of Luzon, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos said Sunday.

“Government assets are in place to deal with the aftermath and ensure the primary needs of those affected, especially food, safe drinking water, and electricity,” Marcos said.

According to Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration’s severe weather bulletin, Signal No. 3 is still hoisted over the southernmost part of the Batanes and Babuyan Islands.

In addition, the state weather agency said that Neneng had gained momentum as it moved away from the Babuyan Islands to the west.

The eye of Neneng’s center was estimated to be 115 km west-northwest of Calayan, Cagayan, as of 10 a.m., Sunday. (ai/mtvn)
