MANILA — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Monday appointed film director Paul Soriano as presidential adviser on creative communications.

This was confirmed by the Office of the Press Secretary officer-in-charge Cheloy Garafil who added that Soriano is scheduled to take his oath of office on the same day.

“Confirmed. [Soriano] will take his oath later,” Garafil said after being asked if Soriano’s appointment is confirmed.

Malacañang has yet to release anything about Soriano’s appointment papers or clarify the job description of his position.

According to Wikipedia, Soriano was born and raised in Los Angeles. His father is director and pastor Jeric Soriano, the son of actor Néstor de Villa.

At the age of 8, Soriano moved to Manila and attended high school at International School Manila, before moving back to the United States to attend De Anza College in Cupertino, California, and Santa Clara University, where he studied filmmaking.

He then returned to Manila after college. Soriano is married to long-time girlfriend actress-TV host Toni Gonzaga. (ai/mtvn)
