MANILA — Senator Robin Padilla wants to impose higher taxes on foreign television series and movies like Korean drama.
Padilla proposed the said step in the budget deliberation for the Film Development Council of the Philippines.
According to him, a higher tax should be given to films and “teleseryes” made in other countries which will be called “foreign teleserye tarification.”
The funds raised from this will be used for Filipinos working in the film and television industry in the country.
