MANILA — A total of eleven (11) suspected members of the New People’s Army have surrendered to the joint Armed Forces of the Philippines and Philippine National Police forces in Taysan, Batangas on Thursday, October 20, 2022.

Troops of the 59th Infantry Battalion and PNP personnel at Barangay San Marcelino facilitated the surrender of the 11 Militia ng Bayan members and Sangay ng Partido sa Lokalidad from SINAG 1 which is led by Junalice Arante Isita of the Southern Tagalog Regional Party Committee’s Sub-Regional Military Area 4C.

“These recent developments manifest the weakening of CPP-NPA-NDF support among our communities, particularly in Batangas. With this, we are urging those who are still in arms to abandon their violent ideologies and lay down their arms so they may live a better life with their families and benefit from the support of our government,” 2ID Commander Maj. Gen. Roberto S. Capulong said in a statement. (ai/mtvn)
