MANILA — Office of the Press Secretary officer-in-charge Cheloy Garafil said that President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. is committed to protect the members of the working media.
“Makaaasa kayo na ang ating Pangulo, President Ferdinand R. Marcos, ay patuloy ang pagkilala sa hanay ng media bilang importanteng haligi ng ating demokrasya,” Garafil told reporters during a round table discussion on Saturday.
“Patuloy ang commitment niya na kayo ay proteksyonan at kilalanin ang inyong important role sa nation building,” she said.
Marcos remains committed in protecting media and recognizing their important role in nation building, the OPS chief said.
Garafil said the chief executive is fully aware of the vital role of journalists, stressing that their welfare is of an utmost concern to government.
Garafil, who used to write for Malaya newspaper, stated that the OPS is equally concerned about the safety and welfare of members of the country’s Fourth Estate. (ai/mtvn)
