MANILA — Hindi kaagad aalisin ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. ang state of public health emergency dahil sa COVID-19 kahit na optional na ang pagsusuot ng face masks sa outdoors at enclosed places, ayon kay Department of Health (DOH) officer in charge Maria Rosario Vergeire.
Nang tanungin kung aalisin ni Marcos ang estado ng public health emergency kasunod ng pakikipagpulong kay World Health Organization director general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, sinabi ni Vergeire: “I don’t think that there would be that kind of concept.”
“Dr. Tedros told the President that there was a recent meeting among the higher officials of the WHO which decides on this public health emergency and he specifically told the President in the recent meeting the vote was to still continue on with the public health emergency,” ayon sa health official nitong Biyernes ng hapon.
Sinabi ni Vergeire na tinitingnan pa ng Pangulo ang usapin na maaaring pag-usapan sa mga susunod na buwan.
“And I think the President would do this gradually… and of course, he is trying to balance also,” aniya.
“So, I don’t think there is this kind of thinking already right now immediately. Maybe in the coming months that will again be discussed but the president believes and also uses the guide given by experts like Dr. Tedros,” dagdag pa ni Vergeire.
