MANILA — No Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) were injured in the Halloween stampede in Seoul, South Korea, according to the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) on Sunday.
“Per our labor attaché, no reports of OFWs hurt as of this time but they are still monitoring the situation,” Migrant Workers Secretary Susan Ople said.
Meanwhile, the Department of Foreign Affairs also said that it has not received any reports of Filipinos being injured in the stampede.
“The Embassy is closely monitoring the situation and is in coordination with local authorities in case any Filipino national has been affected,” DFA said.
“The Embassy continues to remind all Filipinos in Korea to observe precautions during large events,” it added.
According to the Philippine Embassy in Seoul, the DFA said that two foreign nationals died in the incident while 15 were injured.
The stampede during the celebration of Halloween in Seoul has left 151 killed and 150 injured, emergency officials said. (ai/mtvn)
