QUEZON CITY — Health and wellness, hygiene, nutrition, livelihood, employment, and scholarship, all these services in one activity in every barangay in the First District of Quezon City courtesy of Caravan Friday.

Caravan Friday is Councilor Charm Ferrer’s flagship project which includes a number of services such as a free facial, feeding program, free haircut, free zumba, scholarship grants, job fair, CoViD 19 vaccine booster shots, and skin care tips.

The project aims to be conducted in all 37 barangays of the First District. It was already done in Barangays Sto. Cristo, San Antonio, Pag-ibig sa Nayon, Ramon Magsaysay, Bahay Toro (Sitio Militar).

The caravan is on its way to 29 other barangays while small caravans were held in Ernesto Rondon High School (Free Facial), Barangay Ramon Magsaysay, Barangay Alicia, Barangay Nayong Kanluran (Facial and Feeding).

“Layunin ng naturang proyekto na maipaabot ang agarang tulong at matugunan ang mga pangangailangan ng ating mga kababayan na nasa less fortunate communities (The project aims to extend immediate help and response to the needs of our countrymen within the less fortunate communities),” Councilor Ferrer said.

She added that uplifting the lives of our poor QCitizens is her top priority. That’s why the caravan includes a job fair, scholarship grants, and a livelihood program that aims to provide them with start-up capital for their small business.

“Isa rin sa aking tunguhin ang mabigyan ng pansin ang kahalagahan sa aspetong kalinisan sa katawan kung kaya’t nagpapaabot din po kami ng libreng facial, libreng gupit, skin care tips sa mga residente (One of my goals is to provide attention to personal hygiene that’s why we provide free facial, free haircut, and skin care tips to the residents),” Ferrer further said.

The activity is also her office’s way to contribute to the anti-CoViD-19 vaccination program as they provide booster vaccination to residents. While the feeding program is her advocacy ever since she was still a barangay official.

“Kakaunti pa lang ang bilang ng aming napapabakunahan para sa booster shot at gayon din ang nag-a-apply sa amin para sa scholarship program kaya hinihimok namin ang bawat isa na makiisa sa aming programa para sa inyong barangay (Our beneficiaries for booster shot vaccination program and scholarship program were still small in numbers so we encourage everyone to participate in our program once it’s in your barangay),” Ferrer said.

She also thanked all the residents of District 1 who supported her Caravan Friday, Mayor Joy Belmonte, and Vice Mayor Gian Sotto. (ai/mtvn)
